| Taken from "Defying Gravity" from WICKED:
Something
has changed within me Something is not the same I'm through with playing by the rules Of someone else's game Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep It's time to trust my instincts Close my eyes and leap
It's time to try Defying gravity I think I'll try Defying gravity
And you can't pull me down...
I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But 'till I try, I'll never know
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love - I guess I have lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down...
So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately -
Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me -
Tell them how I
Am defying gravity!
I'm flying high
Defying gravity!
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

| I first saw this my freshman year in college when it was making rounds through LCC student emails. I was surprised to see it again in my mailbox so many years later: brought a smile to my face again like a good old friend = ).
EuroEnglish
The European Commission has just announced an agreement
whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than
German, which was the other possibility. As part of the
negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English
spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5
year phase-in plan that would be known as "EuroEnglish": --
In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c".. Sertainly, this will make
the sivil sevants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favor
of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have
one less letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when
the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with the "f". This will make
words like "fotograf" 20% shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be
expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are
possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters,
which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil
agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"'s in the language is
disgraceful, and they should go away.
By the 4th yar, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th"
with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan
be dropd from vords kontaning "ou" and similar changes vud of
kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.
After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor
trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech ozer.

| Klaipeda train station has some oddities in its function. For starters, the working hours of the ticket offices there are amusing in their uniqueness: not only do they work from 6am until 6:30 pm, but they also have a “lunch break” from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Also, if you want to buy a BUS ticket from Kaunas to Warsaw, the TRAIN station is the ONLY place to get it. Regardless of that, it is a fairly nice station, especially compared to the ones you’d see in other insignificant towns of Lithuania or Latvia for that matter too. Also, apparently, it is a place to get some good old USSR customer service experience. What could be any better? So here’s the story…
Having spent half an hour waiting in line at the train station yesterday I only learnt that I needed to come the next day (today) due to too many people waiting to get their train tickets. Never mind my waiting in line: luckily, I’ve a built-in tolerance being a “Soviet child,” so, elated upon hearing the great news I turned around and marched home thinking of a convenient time in my schedule for the following day’s visit.
Around 7am this morning I barely tried the glass door of the ticket office (alas, it was locked) when the ticket lady who was sitting there started waving her arms and shaking her head pointing to the cabin to her left. Instantly helped by that eloquent communication I went into the “right” cabin. The same lady who had told me to come the next day the day before first looked at me in sheer amazement, then asked the arm waving lady if she could sell me the ticket. A nice and quiet morning (let me remind you, around 7 am), was butchered by outraged high-pitched hissing that rushed in response. In a way as if we should have KNOWN the lady informed us that she was getting off work at 8:30 and, therefore, absolutely could not and would not spend any of her precious time being locked in in her cabin on that ridiculous request. Perplexed, I looked at my lady. Hearing the response, she shook her head in deep understanding and told me to come tomorrow. This time she also was very detailed: she told me to be careful and not to “come during their “lunch break” from 8:30 until 12:30; preferably to come after 12:30.”
I walked away wondering if I should even keep trying. After all, there is another, though less convenient, but normal bus that normally leaves from the normal bus station. The weather in Klapeda has been extremely windy in the last couple of days and on my way home an enormous branch fell off a tree and heavily hit the sidewalk right behind me. Having my entire life flashed before my eyes within a second, I thought I’d try the train station one more time. Wish me luck tomorrow.
